11/147:46amYima Chia-KurF Out IneligibleSenior forward Yima Chia-Kur, ASU’s leading returning scorer, will be absent from the starting lineup when the Red Wolves open the season at Ole Miss this evening. Senior Chia-Kur is out indefinitely while Arkansas State petitions the NCAA to re-instate him.  Consider him a non-factor until the team hears back from the clearinghouse. Prior to the beginning of the fall semester Arkansas State determined that 24 student-athletes were ineligible because of incorrect academic advisement. The school made an emergency appeal to the NCAA and 23 were granted waivers. Chia-Kur was the only athlete not granted a waiver. Chia-Kur started all 30 of Arkansas State’s games last season, averaging 11.1 points and 3.5 rebounds

He was competing for minutes in the backcourt.

Last season, the 6-foot Moore led the Trojans in both scoring (9.9 points per game) and assists (3.5). He also ranked third in the Sun Belt Conference in 3-point field goal shooting at 43.3 percent.

11/062:17pmJai LucasGOut For Year TransferLucas will sit out this season after deciding to transfer out of the University of Florida.  The sophomore point guard started all 36 games last season for coach Billy Donovan but is leaving due to anticipation that his minutes will be dropping in the near future.  Lucas averaged 8.5 points per game last season and was the Gators' top 3-point threat.  He has not announced any schools of interest but was recruited by both OSU and Oklahoma out of high school.  He is from nearby Bellaire, Texas.

11/065:11amJohn David GardnerG Questionable Foot and HipJunior guard John David Gardner was cleared to take part in drills Wednesday, Nov. 5, and the staff is cautiously optimistic his foot and hip are healing well enough for him to play this season. He was still nursing his foot a bit when practice began two weeks ago, but seemed fine until his hip began bothering him, which may be related to his foot.

He played in the first seven games of last season for Baylor. He was averaging 2.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 17.3 minutes per game, while shooting 60 percent from the field (9 of 15 field goals) as a redshirt freshman. He also was a perfect 1 of 1 from three-point range.
