Date Time Player Name Pos Status Injury Notes
09/219:46pmDemetrius GoodeRB Questionable KneeSophomore RB Demetrius Goode hyperextended his knee in the Sept 19 game against North Texas.  Head coach Nick Saban says that Goode's injury is "nothing that's really an issue or a problem."  The reserve RB (No. 4 on depth chart) is questionable for the Sept 26 game against Arkansas.
09/219:43pmKenny BellWR Questionable ShinTrue freshman WR Kenny Bell has not played all season because of debilitating shin splints that keep him from practicing.  He does not participate in any contact drills during practice as of Sept 21.  His status for the rest of the season is questionable, making him a likely redshirt candidate.
09/219:41pmRoy UpchurchRB Probable AnkleSenior RB Roy Upchurch suffered a high ankle sprain during his first start in 30 games for the Crimson Tide (Sept 12 vs. FIU).  He sat out the Sept 19 game against North Texas but returned to full-speed practice on Sept 21.  Upchurch has been upgraded to probable for the Sept 26 game against Arkansas.  The reserve RB was starting in place of sophomore RB Mark Ingram, who had been battling the flu the week of the FIU game.  Despite Upchurch's return, Terry Grant and true freshman Trent Richardson will continue to take snaps at reserve tailback.
09/219:52amJulio JonesWR Probable KneeSophomore WR Julio Jones was knocked out of the game against Florida International with a bruised knee and did not play in the Sept 19 game against North Texas.  His status for the Sept 26 game against Arkansas is probable.  According to head coach Nick Saban, "Julio can probably play in this next game."  Jones was a second team All SEC performer in 2008, leading Alabama in receiving yards (924), receptions (58), and TD receptions (4).
09/2010:30amJerrell HarrisLB Doubtful EligibilitySophomore SLB Jerrell Harris did not play in the first three games of the season due to questions surrounding his eligibility.  His status for the Sept 26 game against Arkansas is doubtful.  Harris received a laptop from Auburn booster Curtis Anderson, the same man who paid for a fishing trip for fellow Alabama sophomores Mark Ingram and Julio Jones.  Harris, a reserve SLB (No. 2 on the depth chart), played in 10 games as a true freshman in 2008.
09/158:11amDamion SquareDE Out For Year Torn ACLRedshirt freshman DE Damion Square tore his ACL during the Sept 12 game against Florida International and will miss the rest of the 2009 season.  "It's really too bad," Saban said. "He got redshirted last year and was promising freshman. We were hopeful that he would give us great depth. But it gives somebody else an opportunity to go out and play."
08/266:09amPetey SmithLB Out For Year GrayshirtTrue freshman LB Petey Smith will delay his arrival to Alabama until January 2010.  The reserve MLB was listed as the No.3 MLB on the depth chart.

08/265:54amJennings HesterLB Out For Year Medical scholarshipSophomore reserve MLB Jennings Hester will receive a medical scholarship.  The No.4 MLB's absence leaves Alabama with no depth at the MLB position.
08/265:52amEvan CardwellC Out For Year Medical scholarshipReserve center Evan Cardwell was placed on medical scholarship.  The senior was slated as the No.3 center on the depth chart.  Cardwell made seven starts during his Crimson Tide career.
08/265:44amCharlie HiggenbothamLB Out For Year TransferJunior MLB Charlie Higgenbotham will transfer to South Alabama.  The reserve MLB (No.2 on depth chart) recorded four tackles in 2008.  Higgenbotham's departure leaves the Crimson Tide without much depth at the MLB position.
08/265:41amChris JacksonWR Out For Year TransferSophomore WR Chris Jackson will transfer to Georgia Tech.  The reserve WR moved from DB, where he made six tackles as a true freshman in 2008.  As a wide receiver, Jackson was slated to be third-string behind Marquis Maze and Brandon Gibson.
08/174:37pmBrandon FanneyLB Out For Year TransferFanney has been granted permission to transfer from UA. The 2008 starter was third on the team with 66 tackles - nine for a loss. With Fanney's departure look for senior Eryk Anders to take over the starting job.

Next game: Arizona at Washington on 10/10
Date Time Player Name Pos Status Injury Notes
09/219:36pmRob GronkowskiTE Out For Year BackJunior Rob Gronkowski had season-ending surgery to help mend his ailing back. The Wildcats ran most of their offense through Gronkowski and will undeniably miss him. In the absence of the first-team All-Pac10 player Arizona's offense has noticeably lacked in production through the air. Junior A.J. Simmons has taken over the starting job.
08/091:38amScott SmithDE Out For Year Kicked Off TeamSmith's scholarship has not been renewed and he is no longer on the football team. The sophomore reserve transferred from Cal a year ago and will not play in 2009.
08/091:34amKaniela TuipulotuDT Out For Year TransferTuipulotu will transfer from Arizona to Hawaii. He started seven games in 2008 for the Wildcats but wants to be closer to home. He was listed as the No. 2 DT for 2009 as senior Earl Mitchell has a lock on the starting job.
Arizona State Sun Devils
Next game: Oregon State at Arizona State on 10/03
Date Time Player Name Pos Status Injury Notes
09/268:41amJames BrooksDE Out SuspensionBrooks has yet to play this season due to a violation of team rules but should return vs. Oregon State in week five. Brooks was low on the preseason camp depth chart after coming out of spring practice on the first team. JUCO transfer Dean DeLeone started opposite senior Dexter Davis in week three.
09/239:57amThomas WeberK Out GroinWeber has a torn muscle in his groin and will be out four to six weeks while recovering. The 2007 Lou Groza award winner did not play last week against ULM and was replaced by true freshman Bobby Wenzig. Wenzig was 5-for-5 on extra points and made a 24-yard field goal in that contest. Wenzig likely takes over the kicking duties, but linebacker Mike Nixon kicked in high school and is another option for HC Erickson.
09/239:23amGarth GerhartC Probable ToeGerhart is battling turf toe and sat out the game vs. ULM. He is expected to play Saturday but may be limited to backup duties because HC Erickson was pleased with Thomas Altieri's play in week three. Altier started the ULM game in Gerhart's place.
09/1612:37pmOliver AaronLB Out ElbowAaron is recovering from a dislocated elbow and the sophomore reserve might return next week for the road trip to Georgia.

08/186:32pmBrandon SmithWR Out KneeReserve receiver Brandon Smith suffered what could be a serious knee injury last week. The fifth-year senior appeared to have injured his ankle at first but later was found to have suffered what could be a ligament tear. He was expected to be a backup split end this season behind Kerry Taylor and Gerell Robinson.
Arkansas Razorbacks
Next game: Texas A&M vs Arkansas on 10/03
Date Time Player Name Pos Status Injury Notes
09/249:21amMichael SmithRB Probable ShoulderSenior RB Michael Smith suffered a bruised shoulder against Georgia (Sept 19) but returned to the game.  His status for the Sept 26 game against Alabama is probable.  Smith was the second leading rusher in the SEC last season with 107.2 yards a game (1,072 total), but he has struggled through the first two games of the season for the Razorbacks, averaging less than 60 yards a game.
09/2110:07pmLucas MillerWR Probable CollarboneSenior receiver Lucas Miller went down with a broken collar bone during preseason practice and missed four weeks of action.  He will return for the Sept 26 game against Alabama.  Lucas' return gives the young and deep Razorbacks' receiver rotation some experience with a tough SEC schedule on the horizon.
09/0910:02amLondon CrawfordWR Out CollarboneSenior WR London Crawford will miss 4-6 weeks after breaking his collarbone against Missouri State on Sept 5.  The first-string receiver started in 11 games in 2008 and was a starter in the opener.  Crawford recorded two catches for 44 yards against Missouri State.  It is not known how Crawford's injury will affect Arkansas, as the Razorbacks have one of the deepest receiving corps in the SEC.  Thirteen different players caught passes during the Sept 5 season opener.
09/027:33amJohn HendersonDT Out For Year TransferJunior NT John Henderson has signed a letter of intent with Southern Mississippi.  The former JUCO transfer had originally signed with Arkansas but was granted a release.  Henderson was listed as the No. 3 NT on the Razorbacks depth chart.

08/266:14amIsaac MadisonCB Out For Year Torn ACLStarting CB Isaac Madison is out for the season with a torn ACL (Aug 17).  The junior starter at RCB was second on the team last season with 7 passes broken up and also recorded 38 tackles and 1 interception.  Sophomore Greg Gatson immediately replaced Madison, but true freshmen Darius Winston (No. 2 RCB) and David Gordon (No. 3 LCB) are receiving what would be Madison's reps in practice.
08/095:25pmKhiry BattleLB Out For Year DismissedBackup LB Battle has been dismissed from the football team after being arrested twice within the span of seven weeks. The sophomore's vacated No. 2 MLB job will most likely be filled by junior Jermaine Love who has nine tackles in two seasons.

08/136:21pmJarriel NormanWR Out For Year DismissedProjected starting receiver Jarriel Norman was booted from the team for conduct detrimental to the team. The senior had one start last year and had an impressive average of 16.4 yards per catch. Outside of senior Jahbari McLennan the Red Wolves have few players with much playing time under their belt.
08/136:15pmPaul StephensCB Out For Year DismissedSenior defensive back Paul Stephens was dismissed from Red Wolves football after his arrest for breaking and entering. He was expected to compete with senior Cordarious Mingo for a starting job in 2009.
08/136:14pmLeroy TrahanDB Out For Year DismissedJunior DB Leroy Trahan was dismissed from the team due to conduct detrimental to the team. He was not likely to get much playing time in 2009 as he was buried on the depth chart.
Army Black Knights
Next game: Tulane at Army on 10/03
Date Time Player Name Pos Status Injury Notes
09/267:13amIan SmithRB Probable LegStarting slotback Smith has returned to practice and is probable to play on Sept. 26 against Iowa State after having to sit out in week three.  The senior has carried 7 times for 32 yards this season, but is known as one of the best backfield blockers on the Black Knights' side.
09/267:13amCeDarius WilliamsFB Doubtful AnkleWilliams did not play on Saturday Sept. 19 against Ball State due to an ankle injury and is doubtful to be ready on Sept. 26 against Iowa State.  The starting FB was replaced by slot back Pat Mealy in formations with a fullback.  Mealy enters week three with just over 200 yards rushing, tops on the team.
Auburn Tigers
Next game: Auburn at Tennessee on 10/03
Date Time Player Name Pos Status Injury Notes
09/259:06amAntoine CarterDE Probable KneeJunior DE Antoine Carter has returned to full-speed practice sessions this week (Sept 21) after missing most of the fall preseason camp and the first three games of the season.  The status for the No. 2 DE for Saturday against Ball State is probable.
09/249:23amDrew ColeS Doubtful AnkleSophomore FS Drew Cole missed the Sept 19 game against West Virginia with an ankle injury and is doubtful for the Sept 26 game against Ball State.  Cole sustained the injury during Auburn's SEC opener against Mississippi State.  Cole's absence, combined with the preseason injuries to Aairon Savage and Mike McNeil, thins out the Auburn defensive back rotation.
09/193:05amMontez BillingsWR Out For Year Left teamSenior WR Montez Billings left the team to pursue other opportunities.  Billings has already graduated from Auburn University.  As the leading returning receiver (24 receptions, 227 receiving yards in 2008), Billings was expected to start again this season and vie for the top receiver slot.  His departure leaves a giant hole at WR that needs to be replaced immediately.
08/266:27amRudy OdomG Out For Year Left teamSenior RG Rudy Odom left the team for the second time this year.  The No. 2 RG on the depth chart played in two games last season while struggling through various injuries.
08/2212:40pmMichael McNeilDB Out LegJunior Mike McNeil is still rehabbing from a broken leg and probably will not be ready until midseason. Freshman Daren Bates has made a favorable impression in each of the team's first two scrimmages and it looks like HC Chizik has found the player who will step up in McNeil's absence.
08/2212:04pmAairon SavageDB Out For Year AchillesProjected starter Aairon Savage tore his Achilles and is out for the season.
08/095:45pmChristian ThompsonS Out For Year Left TeamSophomore safety Thompson has left the football program. It is unclear if he left of his own accord or was dismissed. Thompson played in 10 games in 2008 as a true freshman logging one tackle. He played a bigger role during the spring with starters Zac Etheridge and Mike McNeil limited by injuries.
08/095:43pmMarcus JemisonLB/S Out For Year Left TeamReserve LB/S Jemison has left the football program. It is unclear if he left of his own accord or was dismissed. Jemison redshirted last season after sustaining an injury.

Ball State Cardinals
Next game: Toledo at Ball State on 10/03
Date Time Player Name Pos Status Injury Notes
09/269:35pmSean BakerS Questionable HandBaker has a broken hand and sat out the game at Auburn. The reigning MAC Frosh of the Year suffered the injury on the second play of the game at Army. Senior Kyle Kuntz replaced Baker in the starting lineup. Sophomores Josh Howard and Kyle Hoke also saw an increase in playing time.
09/222:19pmSeth WhiteWR Out For Year CollarboneWhite broke his collarbone in the first half against Army and is done for the 2009 season. The injury requires surgery. White started the first two games of the season and was second on the team in receptions going into week three.
09/081:52amMadaris GrantTE Out For Year KneeGrant tore his ACL in the first quarter of the season opener and will undergo surgery in a couple of weeks. The senior and team captain will petition the NCAA for a sixth year of eligibility. After Thursday's loss, HC Parrish said Grant was the one player he couldn't afford to lose. Grant's replacement has not been determined. Sophomore Ryan Hartke, who had never played the position before, filled in Thursday night but was called for a holding penalty that nullified a Ball State touchdown. Freshman Zane Fakes, a converted running back, will compete with Hartke for the starting job.
08/132:07amDerrick HenryS Out For Year AcademicsJunior Derrick Henry was expected to provide depth in the Cardinals' secondary but is not with the team because of what coach Stan Parrish termed "academic issues" encountered during the spring semester. Henry finished 2008 with 42 tackles, but he had only 12 in the final seven games. While unable to play regularly on defense, he was regarded as a key performer on special teams.
Baylor Bears
Next game: Kent State at Baylor on 10/03
Date Time Player Name Pos Status Injury Notes
09/259:11amJay FinleyRB Questionable AnkleStarting halfback Finley has some significant swelling around his ankle after week three's loss to UConn and he might miss time.  Consider Finley questionable to play on Sept. 26 against Northwestern State as he will probably be a game-time decision.  The star runner had 121 yards and a TD against UConn before leaving injured.  Terrence Ganaway would likely become the featured back if Finley needs to miss time.
09/259:10amJeremy WilliamsSS Questionable AnkleWilliams suffered a mild ankle sprain in practice last week that left him unable to play on Saturday Sept. 19 against UConn but consider him probable to go on Sept. 26 against Northwestern State.  Byron Landor, who played for the first time all year in week three after he got over an injury of his own, would likely start is Williams cannot play.
09/217:49amAntareis BryanCB Out FootStarting CB Bryan, the most experienced member of the Bears secondary, is out 6-8 weeks after breaking a bone in his foot during week three's match-up with UConn.  Bryan will replaced by the tandem of Clifton Odom and Mikail Baker.
Boise State Broncos
Next game: FCS (1-AA) Opponent at Boise State on 10/03
Date Time Player Name Pos Status Injury Notes
09/268:31amDJ HarperRB Out KneeHarper likely will miss the rest of the season after tearing the ACL in his left knee in week three. He and fellow junior tailback Jeremy Avery provided 293 rushing yards Friday night at Fresno State. Now, the workload will mostly fall to Avery with sophomore Doug Martin spelling him. HC Peterson said Harper should be able to redshirt this season, giving him two more seasons of eligibility.
09/2311:35amMichael AtkinsonDT Doubtful SuspensionFreshman defensive tackle Michael Atkinson has not played yet this season due to a suspension and is expected to miss the Bowling Green game. Atkinson was arrested in July on a DUI charge after a car accident. He also was charged with leaving the scene of an accident. Sophomores Billy Winn and Chase Baker appear to be at the top of the depth chart.
09/2311:34amGreg GrimesDT Doubtful LegRS freshman DT Greg Grimes has been out nearly a month with a leg injury. He is doubtful for the road trip to Bowling Green. The position was thin to begin with as talented defensive tackle Michael Atkinson has been suspended following a DUI arrest. Boise State still has two excellent, explosive and aggressive defensive tackles - Chase Baker and Billy Winn - but no proven performers behind them.
09/204:41pmChandler KochTE Questionable UnknownKoch has yet to play this season due to an unspecified injury and is being evaluated on a week to week basis. Consider the backup TE questionable for Bowling Green.
09/155:17pmAaron BurksWR Out For Year RedshirtTrue freshman Aaron Burks likely will redshirt unless the Broncos have an injury that forces their hand, HC Petersen said. The Broncos decided to play true freshman wideout Kirby Moore against Miami - filling the one vacant slot in the receiver rotation. Burks was listed on the depth chart for the first two games but didn't play.
08/171:02amAndy SilsbyFB Out For Year KneeSenior fullback Andy Silsby tore an ACL in a softball game and will be out for the year. He will help coach.
08/1312:31amDrew HawkinsQB Out For Year PersonalQuarterback-turned-wide receiver Drew Hawkins has left the football program and quit the sport because of a history of concussions. Hawkins sustained his latest concussion in a recreational softball game. He was slated to move to receiver this fall after spending his redshirt year at quarterback. The loss of Hawkins means the Broncos only have two quarterbacks on the roster who have taken a snap in a college practice - sophomore starter Kellen Moore and junior backup Mike Coughlin. True freshmen Mike Tamburo and Joe Southwick will compete for the third-string job.
Boston College Eagles
Next game: Florida State at Boston College on 10/03
Date Time Player Name Pos Status Injury Notes
09/258:55amDominick LeGrandeLB Doubtful UndisclosedSophomore LB Dominick LeGrande left practice (Sept 24) with an undisclosed injury and is doubtful for the Sept 26 game against Wake Forest.  LeGrande is one of the leaders on the Boston College defense thus far this season due to the injuries to Mike McLaughlin and the cancer battle of All-American Mark Herzlich.  Redshirt freshman Nick Clancy will start at SLB for LeGrande against Wake.
09/258:32amJames McCluskeyFB Out AchillesJunior FB James McCluskey battled an Achilles injury for most of fall preseason camp and has missed the first three games of the season.  He is expected to miss the Sept 26 game against Wake Forest.  In 2008, McCluskey rushed for 84 yards on 23 carries and one touchdown and also caught 19 passes for 123 yards.  Senior DT Brendan Deska could see action at FB during McCluskey's absence.
09/258:31amIfeanyi MomahWR Out KneeJunior WR Ifeanyi Momah has been out indefinitely with a sprained right medial collateral ligament injury (will miss the Wake Forest game on Sept 26).  It has been reported that Momah is healthy enough to play, but the Boston College coaching staff wants to redshirt him (which is why he isn't expected to play the rest of the season barring injury to other WRs).  The reserve receiver caught 11 passes in 2008 for 149 yards and 3 touchdowns (second on the team last season).
09/248:17amDamik ScafeDT Probable ShoulderJunior DT Damik Scafe is listed as having played against Clemson on Sept 19.  Despite shoulder and neck injuries, the starter at DT is probable for the Sept 26 game against Wake Forest.  Scafe is supposed to help fill the void left by BJ Raji and Ron Brace, both of whom moved on to the NFL.  In 2008, he recorded 13 tackles as a reserve.
09/238:45amWill ThompsonLB Doubtful ShoulderSophomore LB Will Thompson missed the first three games of the season with a shoulder injury and is questionable for the Sept 26 game against Wake Forest.  Thompson is listed as the No. 1 WLB on the depth chart.  In Thompson's absence, true freshman Luke Kuechly has excelled.
09/238:42amMike McLaughlinLB Probable AchillesSenior LB Mike McLaughlin missed the first three games of the season while recovering from an Achilles injury he sustained during the spring.  He is expected to return to practice this week (Sept 21), as the coaches feel that he is healthy enough to contribute.  His status for the Sept 26 game against Wake Forest is probable.  McLaughlin is expected to provide stability to a linebacker crew that lost its leader, Mark Herzlich, to cancer for the entire 2009 season.  In 2008, McLaughlin started all 14 games for Boston College and was second on the team in tackles with 89 (53 solo) and four sacks.
08/105:33pmMark HerzlichLB Out For Year CancerHerzlich has been diagnosed with a rare type of bone cancer in his left leg. The ACC Defensive Player of the year is two months into an aggressive chemotherapy plan and will not play in 2009. The cancer gives him a five-percent higher chance of breaking his leg. "If it breaks, the cancer spreads," he said.
08/105:23pmDominique DavisQB Out For Year AcademicsProjected starting quarterback Dominique Davis was declared academically ineligible and will transfer out of the BC program. The QB position in BC is a bit chaotic. There are six QB's on the roster, NONE of which have taken an in-game snap from under center in their careers. Billy Flutie has played college ball - at wide receiver, punter and holder - but he will only get a handful of chances for "change-of-pace" snaps. Codi Boek played in every game last year, including four starts - at FullBack. The other four candidates are either true freshmen or redshirt freshmen.
Bowling Green Falcons
Next game: Ohio at Bowling Green on 10/03
Date Time Player Name Pos Status Injury Notes
09/2212:48pmJimmy ScheidlerTE Questionable AnkleSCheidler had to leave the week three game and did not return. After the game he was on crutches with an ice bag on his right ankle. The senior is questionable for the Boise State game this weekend. Junior Nick Rieke is listed as the No. 2 tight end and would likely start if Scheidler is unable to play.
09/1012:03amTyrone ProntyWR Out FootPronty suffered a broken foot in the season opener against Troy and will be out 4-to-6 weeks. The senior was second on the team with six receptions. Sophomore Ray Hutson will start in Pronty's spot.
08/174:49pmAndrew BeamQB Out For Year TransferReserve QB Andrew Beam has transferred to the University of Findlay in hopes to get more playing time his senior season. Senior Tyler Sheehan has the Falcon's starting job locked up with a number of inexperienced quarterbacks vying for the backup position.
08/1611:25pmCalvin WileyWR Out KneeSenior wide receiver Calvin Wiley suffered a knee injury that could possibly sideline him for the season. Concerns are Wiley, who missed the 2007 campaign because of a knee injury, suffered ligament damage. Results from an MRI will determine his fate. The Falcons have three other seniors all with starting experience slated as No. 1's.

Date Time Player Name Pos Status Injury Notes
09/2310:07pmJose CortesOL Out For Year ShoulderCortes will probably miss the remainder of the season. The RS freshman is to undergo shoulder surgery according to HC Gill. Cortes was the No. 2 left guard behind junior Peter Bittner and Gill has made a few changes to the backup group on the offensive line.
08/2512:57pmJames StarksRB Out For Year ShoulderBuffalo's chances of repeating as MAC champions suffered a major blow Tuesday when the school announced that star senior running back James Starks will miss the season with a labral tear in his shoulder. Starks is a fifth-year senior and has no eligibility remaining. Starks is the school's all-time leading rusher with 3,140 yards and 34 rushing touchdowns. He has scored the most points (222) of any player in Buffalo's history and ranks fifth in all-purpose yardage with 3,830 yards. In his absence, junior Brandon Thermilus will start. Thermilus rushed 100 times for 454 yards and seven touchdowns as a backup last season.

09/268:29amScott JohnsonFS Probable ConcussionJohnson suffered a concussion after taking a knee to the jaw in week two at Tulane. He also had a concussion during training camp but HC Mendenhall says the injuries were not related. Johnson has been upgraded to probable for week four vs. Colorado State.
09/2310:24amJesse TaufiOL Doubtful AcademicsTaufi has not yet completed academic requirements and has not played this season. It was hoped he will be with the team in week three but he did not play vs. Florida State. Freshman tight end Braden Hansen returned from an LDS mission eight months ago and is looking to add depth to the Cougar offensive line.
09/2111:35amRussell TialaveaDT Out KneeTialavea went down with a knee injury in the first half vs. Florida State and did not return. What was initially feared to be an ACL injury turned out to be an MCL sprain. Recovery time should be two to four weeks. Senior Tevita Hola is the likely replacement while Tialavea recovers.
09/068:41pmHouston ReynoldsOL Out For Year KneeFreshman Houston Reynolds suffered an ACL tear in his right knee during preseason camp and is out for the season. Reynolds was beginning his first year with the Cougars after returning from a two-year mission. He had been working with the second team at guard and center.
08/171:43amJason SperedonG Out For Year ShoulderBrigham Young's inexperienced offensive line got more bad news on Friday. BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall said after Friday night's practice that the junior, who has undergone five major surgeries in his career, has a rotator cuff tear in his shoulder and will be out between three and five months. RS freshman Marco Thorson will take Speredon's place as the starter.
08/1112:13pmBernard AfutitiDE Out For Year AcademicsJunior DE Bernard Afutiti is academically ineligible to compete in 2009. He will remain in school and work on becoming eligible for 2010. Sophomore Anthony Miller has taken over as the starting tight end, but the Bears are woefully thin behind him. Ladner is not expected to return until at least the UCLA game in week seven.
09/2511:40amSyd'Quan ThompsonCB Questionable IllnessThompson has missed a couple of practices this week due to sickness. He will probably play in Eugene vs. the Ducks but his level of effectiveness will be up in the air. Thompson lead the Bears in interceptions last year to go along with his 14 pass breakups (2nd on team) and 70 tackles (4th best).
09/2110:29amNyan BoatengWR Out FootBoateng suffered a fractured right foot during the game at Minnesota and will be out four to six weeks. He was Cal's leading receiver in 2008. 08/195:30pmTad SmithTE Out For Year KneeTad Smith has a torn ACL in his right knee and is out for the season. Unless he petitions the NCAA for a sixth year of eligibility, his college career is over. The fifth-year senior used his redshirt year in 2005. Smith had been battling sophomore Anthony Miller for the starting job. He was primarily a backup last season and played in 12 games, catching three passes for 23 yards and a touchdown. Smith's absence means Miller should begin the season as the starting TE with senior Skylar Curran and RS freshmen Jarrett Sparks and Spencer Ladner fighting for a backup role.

Consider Phillips questionable for Buffalo.
08/131:22amTaylor BradleyCB Out For Year AcademicsJunior Taylor Bradley will not be with the 2009 football team because of academic ineligibility. One of two seniors, Tommy Mama or Kirkston Edwards, is the likely candidate to take over the CB spot for the projected starter.
08/131:17amJosh AllisonDT Out For Year UnknownSophomore Josh Allison's career is apparently over due to an unspecified injury. The Chippewas return senior Frank Zombo, an All-MAC selection, junior Sean Murnane, senior Sam Williams and senior Larry Knight along the defensive line. Past that, HC Butch Jones said the key will be to develop depth and have younger players step up and contribute. "Our defensive line, we're probably going to (need) one or two freshman to be able to step up and give us some reps there," he said.

09/182:22pmMalik JamesDB Out For Year Left TeamSophomore DB James has left the University of Cincinnati to return to his native California, ending his football career as a Bearcat.  James played sparingly, primarily appearing on special teams in his one plus year on the team.
08/111:57amVidal HazeltonWR Out For Year EligibilityProjected starter and USC transfer Vidal Hazelton will not play in 2009 after the NCAA denied his request to become immediately eligible. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound receiver caught 50 passes for 540 yards with the Trojans in 2007. Bothered by a high ankle sprain last season, he had only six receptions. Hazelton's addition could have given Cincinnati the deepest receiving corps in the Big East. The Bearcats still return Mardy Gilyard, a first-team All-Big East performer last year, and improving sophomore D.J. Woods.

09/258:37amPhillip PriceOL Probable FluSophomore OL Phillip Price battled the flu earlier this week but is probable for the Sept 26 game against TCU.  Clemson's reserve lineman have been hit hardest by the flu outbreak, so Price's health is of the utmost importance.
09/258:36amBrandon MayeLB Probable FluSophomore LB Brandon Maye is battling flu-like symptoms but is not running a fever according to health officials at Clemson.  He was one of the handful of players forced to sit out of the Sept 21 practice session.  Maye's status for the Sept 26 game against TCU is probable.  Maye is the No. 1 MLB on the depth chart; No. 2 is redshirt freshman Jonathan Willard.
09/248:19amXavier DyeWR Probable PersonalJunior WR Xavier Dye had a change of heart and decided not to transfer according to head coach Dabo Swinney.  Dye began the season as a starting WR and made the start against Middle Tennessee State.  However, he lost his starting job in practice to sophomore Brandon Clear (who had been sidelined for much of the fall preseason camp with a rib injury).  Dye did not play against Boston College on Sept 19.  Having sat out one game, his status for the Sept 26 game against TCU is probable.
09/248:18amDaniel AndrewsLB Doubtful HamstringSophomore Daniel Andrews has not missed a game due to injury, but he has struggled with a hamstring pull since late August.  His status for the Sept 26 game against TCU is doubtful.  Andrews has played in three games so far this season after lettering as a true freshman in 2008.

09/209:06amMarkques SimasWR Probable Suspension/LegSimas finally made his 2009 debut in week three against Wyoming but he was significantly limited due to a leg injury that he took with him into the game and did not record any statistics.  The star wideout and big time playmaker should be fine following the bye week.

09/025:59amNick KasaDE Out KneeFreshman Nick Kasa will be out for at least the Buffs' season opener on Sept. 5 against Colorado State after tearing the MCL in his left knee. Team officials are hoping that the injury is not as serious as originally diagnosed but Kasa could be out for as much as 6-8 weeks. A redshirt could be a possibility for the Buffaloes' top 2009 recruit if the knee requires surgery. Marquez Herrod is expected to be one of the starting DE. Sophomores Conrad Obi and LaGrone Shields have the inside track for playing time, followed by sophomore David Goldberg and freshman Nick O'Neill.
08/104:09pmDevin HeadRG Out For Year AcademicsHead has been ruled academically ineligible for the 2009 season. 09/267:52amLindsey WittenDE Probable FluStarting DE Witten is probable to play but might not be at 100% on Sept. 26 against Rhode Island as he recovers from a flu bug that has sapped his strength over the past few weeks.  Witten has practiced full speed late this week, and encouraging sign that he's nearing full strength.  Witten leads the nation in sacks this year with 3.5.  He's considered among the top DE in not only the BIG EAST, but also the nation.
09/267:52amSio MooreLB Questionable HamstringReserve LB Moore did not play on Saturday Sept. 12 against North Carolina or Sept. 19 against Baylor due to a hamstring strain.  He is questionable to play on Sept. 26 against Rhode Island as UConn HC Randy Edsall says Moore is being evaluated on a week to week basis.  He provides depth in the linebacking corps when healthy.
09/267:52amRyan GriffinTE Out BackGriffin was forced to leave UConn's game on Saturday Sept. 12 against UNC with a significant back injury that will forced him out in week three and will likely do so again on Sept. 26 against Rhode Island according to HC Randy Edsall.  With Griffin on the shelf, look for John Delahunt and Corey Manning to pick up the slack at TE.
09/267:49amScott LutrusLB Doubtful NeckLutrus, who did not play the last two weeks due to a neck injury suffered in week one, is still appears not ready to return heading into Saturday Sept. 26 against Rhode Island.  He has not yet taken any contact  in practice, and obviously that is the first step in his recovery.  The starting LB led UConn in tackles last year and is especially valuable as a run stopper on passing downs or when the opponent is in a passing formation.  Kijuan Dabney has been starting in place of Lutrus.
09/267:49amKashif MooreWR Questionable ShoulderMoore is questionable to play on Sept. 26 against Rhode Island after suffering a shoulder injury in week three against Baylor.  Moore led UConn in receptions last year with 27.  The sophomore has only made one reception so far this season.
09/267:49amMichael SmithWR Probable KneeSmith did not travel with UConn to face Baylor on Saturday Sept. 19 due to a knee injury suffered last week in practice but consider him probable to return Sept. 26 against Rhode Island.   The sophomore has not caught a pass this season and provides depth when healthy.
09/228:33amBeau BrunelliDL Out For Year UndisclosedBrunelli has been reinstated from his school-imposed suspension however that does not mean the freshman DL will see the field this year.  Brunelli has been rehabbing from an undisclosed injury that will keep him out of action all season.  He was competing for playing time on the line before the suspension.
09/209:12amZach FraserQB Out KneeFrazer had to leave UConn's week two matchup against UNC due to a right knee injury and he did not return.  While Fraser did not suffer a season-ending injury and will not require surgery, UConn HC Randy Edsall has announced that he will be out for at least two weeks, meaning he is targeting a week five return.  Cody Enders becomes the Huskies starting QB and Mike Box is elevated into the #2 role.
08/2512:29pmHarris AgborS Out KneeReserve safety Harris Agbor suffered an LCL injury and is expected to be out at least six weeks. Senior Robert Vaughn is the lone safety on the roster with any valuable playing time under his belt.

08/2512:17pmYianni ApostolakosTE Out For Year HipSophomore Yianni Apostolakos is done playing football. His hip injury will not allow him to play the game anymore. Three redshirt freshmen remain on the roster at tight end; Ryan Griffin and John Delahunt have separated themselves from the pack according to HC Edsall. Both are big and physical and could help out the offense tremendously.
08/2512:11pmJohn YurekS Out For Year KneeReserve safety John Yurek suffered a knee injury and will miss the 2009 season. RS freshman Jerome Junior will solidify his role as backup to 2nd TM BE stud Robert Vaughn at free safety.

09/2510:48pmJohnny WilliamsWR Probable AnkleSophomore WR Johnny Williams is probable for the NC Central game despite being slowed by an ankle injury.  The first-string WR was the second-best receiver in Duke's offense in 2008 (behind then senior Eron Riley), amassing 327 yards on 30 receptions as a true freshman.
09/2510:38pmJay HollingsworthRB Doubtful AnkleJunior RB Jay Hollingsworth is doubtful for the NC Central game with an ankle injury.  The No. 2 RB on the depth chart was Duke's leading rusher in 2008 (108 attempts; 399 yards--both team highs).  Hollingsworth's injury, along with the injury to No. 1 RB Re'quan Boyette, leaves the Blue Devils thin at RB this week.  True freshman Desmond Scott will see significant action against NC Central.
09/2510:27pmVince OghobaaseDT Doubtful LegSenior DT Vince Oghobaase is doubtful for the NC Central game with a leg injury.  Oghobaase is considered to be the top defensive tackle in the ACC and a strong All-American candidate.  The injury that threatens to sideline Oghobaase is a re-aggravation of the injury the All-ACC defensive tackle suffered prior to the Kansas game.  Oghobaase led Duke with six sacks in 2008.  Freshman John Drew could start in place of Oghobaase.
09/2510:22pmRe'quan BoyetteRB Out LegSenior RB Re'quan Boyette will miss the game against NC Central with a leg injury.  Boyette is Duke's No. 1 RB in 2009 after being injured in 2008.  Boyette's back-up, Jay Hollingsworth, is also injured.  Replacing Boyette in the starting lineup is highly touted freshman Desmond Scott.
09/2510:09pmConner VernonWR Probable AnkleTrue freshman WR Conner Vernon is probable for the Sept 26 game against NC Central with an ankle injury.  Vernon earned a starting role after an impressive fall preseason camp.  He scored a touchdown against Army on senior QB Thaddeus Lewis' 50th career touchdown throw.
09/2012:34pmKyle GriswouldRB Out LegTrue freshman RB Kyle Griswould has missed the first three games of the season.  It is believed that Griswould's prolonged absence makes it easier for the Duke coaching staff to redshirt him.  Prior to the injury, Griswould had outperformed highly touted local product Desmond Scott, though it was never certain that either would appear in a game this season.
09/2012:34pmRandez JamesCB Out HandRedshirt freshman CB Randez James missed a third consecutive game with a hand injury.  The reserve CB has not seen action in a Duke uniform, as he was suspended for the 2009 Spring Game and has been nursing a hand injury since mid August.

08/255:14pmTony JacksonRB Out For Year DismissedJunior RB Tony Jackson was dismissed from the program over the summer. He was supposed to give Duke another experienced player in the tailback rotation. RS freshman Patrick Kurunwune will have a chance to crack the rotation as a third string option.
08/106:06pmZach AsackQB/SS Out For Year DismissedFormer starting quarterback Zach Asack has been dismissed from the team for a violation of team policy. The redshirt senior was moved from QB to Safety prior to spring's practice but it now appears sophomore Matt Daniels might move into the starting SS position for 2009.

09/267:12amDominique LindsayRB Doubtful ShoulderECU was without running back Lindsay on Sept. 19 against UNC because of an injury to the senior's shoulder.  Consider him unlikely to return on Sept. 26 against UCF.  Lindsay has averaged just under 70 yards per game this season as the Pirates primary ball carrier and is responsible for two of the squads three rushing TDs.  Brandon Jackson expects to get most of the carries with Lindsay ailing.
09/267:12amEmanuel DavisCB Probable ShoulderDavis, a reserve cornerback, did not play on Saturday Sept. 12 against West Virginia or on Sept. 19 against UNC despite being listed as probable.  He should be considered probable again on Sept. 26 against UCF.  His injury thinned an already weak defensive backfield and forced redshirt freshmen Jack Shultz and Justin Veneble into more reps.  ECU had also moved freshman running back Michael Dobson into the secondary for further reinforcement.
09/267:11amLevin NealS Probable AnkleNeal did not play on Saturday Sept. 12 against West Virginia or on Saturday Sept. 19 against UNC while recovering from an injured ankle suffered in week one.  He is probable on Saturday Sept. 26 against UCF.  After practicing all last week and initially being probable, Neal simply did not progress into game shape close to the weekend.  The junior transfer from NC State won the starting job over Derek Blacknall in camp, who likely reverts back to a reserve role.
09/248:06amAntonio AllisonDT Out FootAllison is out indefinitely after suffering a broken foot in week three against UNC.  The sophomore was entrenched as a starter on the defensive line before the injury, which requires surgery.  ECU has a number of options to replace Allison, including shifting to more 3-4 defense as opposed to 4-3.  They do have decent depth on the defensive line however.
09/234:02pmJR RogersRB Out KneeRogers is out indefinitely with a knee injury.  The senior does not contribute as a running back, having not taken a carry this season, however he does see action as a kick and punt returner when healthy.
09/233:41pmMichael BowmanWR Out ArmBowman is out indefinitely with a broken right arm.  The reserve WR provides depth when healthy.  He's yet to record a catch this season, and the sophomore only managed two receptions for 20 yards in 2008.

09/267:14amJoe HadenCB Probable FluJunior CB Joe Haden did not travel with the team to Lexington because he has the flu according to head coach Urban Meyer.  His status for the Kentucky game is probable, however.  In 2008, Haden led the Gators with 12 passes broken up and was second on the team in tackles (87) behind All-American LB Brandon Spikes.
09/267:07amTim TebowQB Probable FluSenior QB Tim Tebow has the flu but will play according to head coach Urban Meyer.  Tebow and two of his teammates (starting CB Joe Haden and safety Major Wright) boarded a separate plane to Lexington to stay isolated from their teammates.  Tebow is the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner, a 2008 national champion as a starting QB, and is considered one of the top college players in the country in 2009.
09/253:16pmBrendan BealLB Out Sore neckRedshirt freshman LB Brendan Beal is suffering from a sore neck that forces him to receive limited reps at practice.  According to head coach Urban Meyer, Beal had separated himself from the rest of the reserve linebackers and had established himself as the No. 2 MLB behind All-American Brandon Spikes.  Beal's injury further depletes the Gators' reserve linebacker corps.  Beal did not play against Charleston Southern on Sept 5 or Sept 12 game against Troy.  According to the coaching staff, Beal is "likely to miss the next few weeks".
09/249:29amJeffery DempsRB Probable FluSophomore Jeffery Demps is battling the flu according to head coach Urban Meyer.  He played with a fever of over 100 degrees against Tennessee (Sept 19) and his status for the Sept 26 game against Kentucky is probable.  Demps is the No. 1 RB on the Florida depth chart.  In 2008, Demps ran for 605 yards and seven touchdowns.  He is expected to play a bigger role in the Gators' backfield this season.  Chris Rainey is a likely replacement if he is unable to go again this week.

09/253:46pmDerrell Johnson-KoulianosWR Questionable HamstringJohnson-Koulianos missed last week's win over Arizona due to a hamstring issue and is questionable for Penn State. Junior Colin Sandeman started in his place and led the team with five receptions. Johnson-Koulianos' availability for Penn State will be a game-time decision.
09/253:45pmTony MoeakiTE Questionable AnkleMoeaki suffered an ankle sprain in the opener against UNI. The senior started the week two game and played through the pain but was held out of practice last week and did not play vs. Arizona. Junior Allen Reisner got the start in week three. Moeaki's availability for Penn State will be a game-time decision.
09/253:45pmBryan BulagaOL Out IllnessBulaga missed the past two games with an undisclosed ailment which required hospitalization two weeks ago. He earned 2nd TM Big10 honors last season and is considered a top pro prospect. The junior was upgraded to probable for Arizona but did not play. RS freshman Riley Reiff, clocked at 4.8 speed, will make the start against Penn State.
09/2012:04pmJoe GaglioneDE Out ShoulderRS freshman Joe Gaglione has a shoulder injury and has yet to play this season. There is very little depth behind starting juniors Adrian Clayborn and Christian Ballard.
09/2012:03pmChad GearyDE Out KneeSenior Chad Geary injured his knee in the spring and and has yet to play this season. With Gaglione also banged up the Hawkeyes are looking a little thin for pass-rushers.
09/0111:56amJewell HamptonRB Out For Year KneeSophomore Jewell Hampton tweaked his knee and has not been able to practice for most of camp. This is the same knee that he injured in early July off-season workouts. HC Ferentz announced today that Hampton will miss the 2009 season. Iowa's week one depth chart lists junior Paki O'Meara as the starter followed by RS freshman Adam Robinson. RS freshman Jeff Brinson is also in the mix, but he missed a good chunk of camp with an ankle injury.
08/185:51pmJordan BernstineCB Out AnkleJunior Jordan Berstein broke his ankle last week and will be out for quite some time, if not the entire 2009 season. He was contending for one of the starting CB positions with Shaun Prater but it looked like a battle he was not going to win anyway. However, Prater will be serving a suspension for the first two games of the season leaving the Iowa precariously thin at the corner.
08/0911:29pmJacody ColemanLB Out For Year TransferJunior Jacody Coleman has decided to transfer to Lamar in an effort to find more playing time. He started three games in his two years as a Hawkeye and accumulated 52 tackles but 2nd Team All-Big 10 Pat Angerer has a lock on the starting MLB job.

09/267:14amHouston JonesWR Questionable AnkleJones did not play in week three due to an ankle sprain suffered against North Dakota State during Iowa State's second game of the year.  Consider him questionable to play on Sept. 26 against Army. The starting wideout is yet to record any statistics this year, but hauled in at least one reception in every game last season.
09/258:40amKennard BanksCB Questionable SuspensionBanks' suspension has been lifted by Iowa State just two days after he was booked on charges of marijuana possession.  Listed as a starter at CB on the most recent two-deep, Banks did not start in week three due to an ankle injury, and Iowa State has made no indication of his status on Saturday Sept. 26 against Army despite his being eligible.  He was replaced in the starting lineup by Ter'ran Benton last weekend and Benton would likely start again if Banks does not play.
09/245:55pmCleyon LaingDE Questionable SuspensionReserve DE Laing's indefinite suspension has been ended by Iowa State just two days after being booked on charges of marijuana possession prior to week four's matchup against Army.  Laing is listed as third on the depth chart at left end and has not played this year.  He is eligible to play, but Iowa State has not mentioned if he will or not.
09/245:54pmKevin HamlinLB Questionable SuspensionHamlin is no longer suspended indefinitely after being booked on marijuana possession, and he is now eligible to resume full football duties, including playing on game day.  The reserve linebacker is not listed on the depth chart, however and has not played this year.

09/267:26amJake SharpRB Questionable CalfSharp saw extremely limited duty in week three due to a calf injury apparently suffered prior to the game.  According to HC Mike Mangino, Sharp lacked explosiveness during pre-game warmups and while he did start the game and take five carries, it was true freshman Toben Opurum who did the majority of the running.  Kansas has already allowed Sharp's return to practice, signalling the injury isn't serious, but he's still considered a game time decision on Sept. 26 against Southern Miss.  Sharp is among the statistical rushing leaders in the Big 12, having rolled up an average of over 110 yards/game through the first two weeks while scoring a league best five TDs.
09/267:26amArist WrightLB Probable UnknownStarting LB Wright was limited in week three due to an undisclosed injury, leading to plenty of playing time for true freshman backup Huldon Tharp.  Wright is expected to be back to full strength on Sept. 26 against Southern Miss, meaning expect to see less of Tharp, who led KU with 11 tackles in week three.
09/267:26amChris HarrisCB Questionable LegHarris limped off the field in the fourth quarter of Kansas' week three match-up and did not return.  Consider him questionable to play on Sept. 26 against Southern Miss.  Harris was recently elevated into a starting role at cornerback, forcing Anthony Davis to the bench.  Davis would be the likely replacement for Harris if he needs to miss time.
09/267:26amTim BiereTE Probable IllnessBiere had to sit out in week three against Duke due to illness, but the starting tight end is expected back on the field Saturday Sept. 26 against Southern Miss.  He is scheduled for a full week of practice and looks fine going forward.

08/255:24pmBen LuekenOL Out For Year Left TeamBackup lineman Ben Lueken left the football program to pursue outside opportunities. HC Mangino said that health concerns with the sophomore were taken into consideration but that those concerns weren't the reason for his departure. Lueken was involved in an offseason incident with former RB Jocques Crawford, who also left the program before the season started. The details of the case haven't been completely revealed.
08/104:31pmJocques CrawfordRB Out For Year TransferSenior tailback Jocques Crawford has decided to leave Kansas and transfer to a lower division school. 'Jocques was looking for an opportunity to get more playing time,' Kansas coach Mark Mangino said. 'We support his decision and wish him well.' 09/234:38pmAubrey QuarelsWR/KR Doubtful LegQuarels did not play on Saturday Sept. 19 against UCLA due to a leg injury that has kept him out all season long up to this point.  Consider him unlikely to return on Sept. 26 against Tennessee Tech.  Quarels sees some action in the passing game, having brought in 12 receptions last season, but his value comes mostly as the Wildcats primary kick and punt returner.
09/209:13amBrandon HaroldDL Out KneeHarold remains out indefinitely with a knee injury suffered prior to opening weekend.  He began fall camp as a projected starter on the defensive line.  Finally, K-State HC Bill Snyder has given a projected timetable for Harold's return - three weeks.
09/179:00amKadero TerrellDL Out LegTerrell is out indefinitely with a leg injury.  The reserve defensive lineman has not played yet in 2009 and no information is available regarding a potential return.  He provides veteran depth on the defensive front when healthy.
09/146:38pmBrock UnruhOL Out For Year ChestUnruh will not play this season after suffering a chest injury prior to the season opener.  It was hoped that the reserve offensive lineman could return later in the season but that will not be the case.  Unruh is likely to take a medical redshirt.

Junior Andre Flowers is the likely replacement for the 2008 2nd TmMAC stud.
08/174:29pmKirk BlegraveDB Out For Year AcademicsSenior Kirk Belgrave will not be with the team in 2009 due to academic issues. 09/249:40amTrevard LindleyCB Probable KneeSenior All-American CB Trevard Lindley was knocked out of the Sept 19 game against Louisville with a bruised knee.  X-rays on the knee were negative, and Lindley says he expects to play against Florida (Sept 26).  Lindley is considered the top cornerback in the country by various media outlets.  His 11 passes broken up in 2008 led the Wildcats.
09/249:31amKyrus LanxterWR Doubtful HamstringJunior WR Kyrus Lanxter did not play Sept 19 game against Louisville because of a hamstring pull.  His status for the Sept 26 game against Florida is doubtful.  Lanxter played the entire 2008 season, making one start and amassing 185 receiving yards on 23 receptions.  He is a projected starter at WR this season.  Sophomore Gene McCaskill sees significant time in Lanxter's absence.
09/1610:33amRidge WilsonLB Out SuspensionTrue freshman LB Ridge Wilson is suspended from all football-related activities for at least a week because of a fourth-degree assault charge filed against him by a female student.  Head coach Rich Brooks said that he would judge the length of Wilson's suspension as the season moved forward.  Wilson played on special teams during Kentucky's opening day victory over Miami (OH).
09/0612:20pmMarcus DavisC Out For Year AnkleJunior C Marcus Davis will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a dislocated right ankle.  Davis was filling in for suspended starter Jorge Gonzalez.  Redshirt freshman Matt Smith replaced Davis in the Sept 5 game against Miami (Ohio).
08/309:37amAaron BoydWR Out For Year RedshirtSophomore WR Aaron Boyd will be redshirted for the 2009 season.  The reserve WR played in 11 games in 2008, catching five passes for 46 yards.  Head coach Rich Brooks says that Boyd's maturity level is a concern. "In hindsight, it might have been wise for him to redshirt last year," says Brooks.
08/268:13amJonathan GeorgeRB Out AnkleTrue freshman RB Jonathan George will miss at least one game with an ankle injury.  The reserve tailback had impressed coaches during preseason camp with his burst of speed and ability to make big plays.

Fields will miss most of the season with a torn ligament in his foot.  It was announced that Fields would undergo surgery on his foot.  Fields sat out his true freshman year with a hamstring pull.  He was expected to be "in the mix" for playing time as a redshirt freshman this season.
08/095:04pmJeremy JarmonDE Out For Year SuspensionSenior Jarmon has been suspended for the 2009 season after testing positive for a banned substance. Jarmon co-led the Wildcats in QB-sacks a year ago and was named to the 2nd Team All-SEC. Jarmon's departure leaves UK with a corps of very inexperienced defensive ends.
08/095:00pmEJ AdamsWR Out For Year PersonalAdams has left the football team due to personal reasons. He played in 12 games as a junior in 2008, starting nine, and caught 14 passes for 180 yards. 09/252:34pmMatt DesormeauxFB Out KneeJunior FB Matt Desormeaux will miss the Nebraska game with a knee injury.  Desormeaux's absence could hinder ULL's running game against the Huskers.  Geoffrey McCullough and Jonathan Thomas are available options.
09/252:29pmMaurice RolleS Doubtful BackJunior FS Maurice Rolle has been downgraded to doubtful for the Nebraska game with an unspecified back injury.  Rolle is listed as the No. 2 FS on the depth chart behind injured starter Gerren Blount.  The injury to Rolle leaves the Ragin Cajuns with no playable depth at either safety positions.
09/252:26pmGerren BlountS Doubtful LegSenior FS Gerren Blount injured his leg against LSU (Sept 19) and his status for the Sept 26 game against Nebraska is doubtful.  Blount was fourth on the team in tackles in 2008 with 67.  Next on the depth chart is junior Maurice Rolle.
09/252:21pmChris RichardS Doubtful AnkleSophomore SS Chris Richard missed two games with an ankle injury and is likely out for the Sept 26 game against Nebraska.  Richard amassed eight tackles as a true freshman in an injury-shortened season.  His injury, along with the injury to fellow starting safety Gerren Blount, leaves the Ragin' Cajuns thin at the safety position.
09/252:19pmColin WindsorT Out KneeJunior RT Colin Windsor is out indefinitely with a knee injury.  Windsor is listed as the No. 2 RT on the depth chart.  It is uncertain who will replace Windsor, as his immediate replacement (Sean Osborne) is out with an injury.
09/252:18pmRichard BrooksLB Out ArmSophomore LB Richard Brooks did not play against LSU on Sept 19 and is ruled out for the Sept 26 game against Nebraska with a broken bone in his left arm.  The reserve LB's injury further wears down the depth at LB for the Ragin' Cajuns.  Brooks made five starts as a redshirt freshman in 2008.
09/252:17pmRichie FalgoutWR Questionable AnkleJunior WR Richie Falgout missed two games with an ankle injury, and he is questionable for the Sept 26 game against Nebraska.  The reserve WR is a big playmaker catching the ball (348 yards, 11.2 ypc in 2008) as well as throwing the ball (3-3, 3TDs in 2008).  He threw a TD pass this season in a ULL win over Southern, making him 4-4 with 4 TDs in his career.
09/2310:02amChris FisherC Questionable ShoulderSenior C Chris Fisher sat out of Sept 21 practice and is questionable for the Sept 26 game against Nebraska.  Fisher is a 1st team All SBC performer and Lombardi Watch candidate.  Next on the depth chart is freshman Evan Ruiz, who has also been injured.
09/239:59amLance KelleyS Out BackSophomore SS Lance Kelly is out indefinitely with a back injury.  Kelley played against LSU but re-aggravated the injury; thus, he will miss the Nebraska game (Sept 26).  Kelley is still transitioning to SS from WR, where he played in 2008.  His injury, coupled with the injury to Chris Richard, leaves the Ragin' Cajuns thin at SS.
09/2010:54amSean OsborneT Questionable ShoulderRedshirt freshman RT Sean Osborne has missed two games with a shoulder injury.  The reserve tackle is listed as the No. 3 RT on the depth chart.  Osborne's status for the Sept 26 game against Nebraska is unknown.

09/248:26amLazarius LevingstonDE Doubtful KneeJunior DE Lazarius Levingston suffered a knee injury during the season opener against Washington and has missed two straight games since (Vanderbilt and Louisiana Lafayette).  "It's not terribly serious, but it's an injury that may keep him out of the next game," LSU coach Les Miles said Tuesday afternoon. "It's not a surgery issue in any way."  Because of the injury, Levingston's status for the Sept 26 game against Mississippi State is doubtful.
09/248:25amJosh DownsDL Doubtful UndisclosedTrue freshman DL Josh Downs left the Louisiana Lafayette game with an undisclosed injury.  He has been downgraded to doubtful for the Sept 26 game against Mississippi State.  The reserve DL has been fighting for a spot in the DL rotation prior to the start of SEC play.  In his absence, fellow true freshman Michael Brockers will see increased action.
09/2011:01amAkiem HicksDT Questionable KneeJunior DT Akiem Hicks did not play in the first three games of the seeason, and his status for the Sept 26 game against Mississippi State is questionable.  The JUCO transfer was listed as a second-string DT behind senior starter Al Woods.
09/1411:17amRichard MurphyRB Out For Year KneeJunior RB Richard Murphy will likely miss the rest of the 2009 season with a serious knee injury.  The reserve RB is listed as the No. 3 RB on the depth chart behind All-SEC performer Charles Scott and speedster Keiland Williams.  Says head coach Les Miles: “I’m saddened that Richard Murphy will probably not make the next game and maybe the next game. It’s sad to have a quality, young back get hurt, but those things happen.”
09/126:50amTim MoltonWR Out For Year Left teamRedshirt freshman WR Tim Molton left the LSU program for unspecified reasons.  Sources believe that Molton was disappointed with his decline on the depth chart after sustaining two knee  injuries.  Molton was named a back-up WR to true freshman Rueben Randle, the No. 1 prospect at his position coming out of high school.
08/145:27pmSidell CorleyDE Out For Year TransferCorley was released from LSU's football program and will now look into an immediate transfer to Alabama or Auburn to be closer to family. Corley's father said his son plans to apply for a hardship waiver from the NCAA to allow him to play this year. Corley was listed as a No.2 DE on the preseason depth chart  Outside of 2008 1st TM SEC stud Rahim Alem the Tigers do not have any DE's with starting experience on the roster.
08/095:21pmShomari ClemonsLB Out For Year Left TeamSophomore LB Clemons left the football program this past spring saying he felt the stigma of a 2008 arrest forever clouded his reputation at the school. He was arrested on misdemeanor charges of shoving a police officer and disturbing the peace. "I needed to go somewhere and get a fresh start, just get away from there," he said. Clemons was No. 2 at MLB behind senior Jacob Cutrera. That job will now most likely be filled by true freshman Kevin Minter or redshirt freshman Kyle Prater.

09/267:19amAlbert McClellanDL Probable HamstringA minor hamstring injury is not expected to keep senior DE and All-C-USA lineman McClellan out of the lineup on Sept. 26 against Memphis, however the star pass rusher might be limited in his role and almost certainly will not be at 100%.  McClellan ranks 7th in all-time sacks at Marshall.
09/267:17amCourtney EdmonsonWR Doubtful ShoulderEdmonson has not played in the last two weeks after the wideout was injured in the first quarter of Marshall's opening week game against SIU on an end around and did not return.  He is unlikely to return on Sept. 26 against Memphis.  A speedy redshirt freshman, Edmonson had a good showing in fall camp, earning a starting spot.  True frosh Aaron Dobson has been seeing the field more with Edmonson hobbled.
09/267:17amTJ DrakefordCB Questionable UndisclosedDrakeford did not appear in Marshall's week three win over Bowling Green for an undisclosed reason.  The starting CB missed week one while injured, but returned and started in week two.  Consider Drakeford questionable to play on Sept. 26 against Memphis.  Sophomore Ahmed Shakoor started in place of Drakeford before and would likely do so again in the sophomore cannot play.
09/267:17amDelvin JohnsonDL Questionable AnkleStarting DL Johnson injured his left ankle in week three.  Consider him questionable to play on Sept. 26 against Memphis.  Johnson has started all three games for The Herd this year.  He is backed up by junior Brandon Bullock, who has never made a collegiate start.
09/248:12amTroy EvansWR Out For Year FootJunior WR Evans will not play again this season after breaking his foot in week three.  Evans, who provides depth in the Marshall receiving corps when healthy and also sees time as a kick returner, will take a redshirt and keep two years of eligibility.  Highly regarded freshman Michael Rhynes seems like the most logical candidate to replace Evans, however Marshall may want Rhynes to keep his redshirt and look elsewhere for help.
09/248:09amJohn SaundersFS Out For Year NeckSaunders was carted off the field on a backboard in week three.  While he did have movement in his extremities and was able to give a thumbs up to the crowd, he is not likely to be able to return to the football field this season.  Saunders had made 14 tackles on the season.  Omar Brown is his most likely replacement in the starting lineup.
08/127:16pmJosh EvansOL Out For Year TransferJunior OL Josh Evans decided to transfer from Marshall citing personal issues as the main reason for leaving. Senior Landis Provancha is listed No. 2 on the depth chart although the Oregon transfer has no game action as a part of the Thundering Herd.

09/258:44amBruce CampbellT Probable ToeJunior LT Bruce Campbell is probable for the Sept 26 game against Rutgers despite being slowed by a turf toe injury.  Campbell made seven starts as a sophomore in 2008.  If Campbell is unable to go, Paul Pinegar, will continue to shift over from RT to LT.
09/258:42amLouis BermanLB Out LegJunior LB Louis Berman missed two straight games with a leg injury.  He is likely to miss the Sept 26 game against Rutgers.  Berman is listed as the No. 4 Anchor LB on the Terps' depth chart.
09/258:41amCaleb PorzelRB Out LegTrue freshman RB Caleb Porzel has struggled all season with a leg injury that has slowed his development.  He is considered the fastest player on a Maryland Terrapin team that lacks the athleticism to keep up with the class of the ACC.  It is unlucky that he will play this season.
09/239:03amJoe VellanoDT Out FootRedshirt freshman DT Joe Vellano will miss at least one more week with a foot injury.  He is expected to return in October.  The reserve DT underwent surgery for stress fractures in his foot on Aug 20.
09/1410:37amNolan CarrollCB Out For Year LegSenior CB Nolan Carroll will likely miss the 2009 season with a broken leg.  Carroll sustained the injury against James Madison on Sept 12.  Carroll was second on the team last season in passes broken up with eight.  Richard Taylor (senior) or Travis Hawkins (true freshman) will likely step in for the injured Carroll.
08/175:02pmDion ArmstrongNT Out For Year Left TeamProjected starting NT Dion Armstrong has left Maryland football. 09/267:20amJeremy LongstreetLB Doubtful GroinLongstreet pulled a groin muscle in practice last week and did not play on Saturday Sept. 19 against UT-Martin.  He is one of the top linebacking options for the Tigers when healthy, but doubtful to play on Sept. 26 against Marshall.
09/233:45pmDerrick OdomLB Doubtful GroinA groin pull is likely to keep Odom off the field on Sept. 26 against Marshall.  The transfer from LSU has been receiving considerable playing time this season, and his loss thins the Tigers' linebacking corps.

09/259:12amHardy RicksSS Probable AnkleStarting safety Ricks was unable to play in week three due to an ankle injury, further hurting the Tigers' depth at the safety position.  He is probable to return to action on Friday Sept. 25 against Nevada, but if he cannot go expect to see Jasper Simmons starting at SS for the second straight week.
09/259:12amJosh TatumLB Out BackJosh Tatum is out indefinitely with a back injury. Tatum transferred from City College of San Francisco after redshirting his freshman year at USC in 2006. 09/234:35pmJarrell HarrisonS Probable ElbowBackup safety Harrison had missed the first two weeks of the 2009 season after dislocating his elbow but returned late in week three.  He is hopeful to be back on the field on Sept. 25 against Nevada.  He had medical clearance in week three but was not ready mentally and even physically, however that is no longer the case.  Harrison will likely be needed, and perhaps even as a starter, with Hardy Ricks and Del Howard hobbled.

09/249:48amRam VelaLB Questionable HipVela is questionable to play on Sept. 26 against Western Kentucky due to a hip pointer suffered in week three against Pitt that forced him to leave the game in the second half.  Vela joins Clint Sovie on the sidelines, meaning Navy's linebacking corps is extremely thin.  Tyler Simmons and Wyatt Middletown are likely to shift from inside linebacker and play some outside linebacker if Vela cannot suit up on Saturday.

09/267:34amZac LeeQB Probable ThumbLee did not practice on Monday with a wrap around his left thumb, however Nebraska HC Bo Pelini said that is a non-issue, actually remarking that it was the fact that Lee was on medication and told not to exert himself that kept him from repetitions.  Freshman Cody Green took the first team work on Monday before Lee resumed practice later in the week.  Pelini stressed with no uncertainty that Lee would be under center on Saturday Sept. 26 against UL-Lafayette.
08/255:44pmKody SpanoQB Out For Year KneeBackup QB Kody Spano tore an ACL for the second time in four months and will miss the 2009 season. The sophomore had competed with junior Zac Lee for the starting job during the spring before injuring the knee. This injury is a big loss for the Cornhuskers considering the lack of experience behind Lee. It likely means that heralded freshman Cody Green will be ticketed for duty with the team this season and probably has killed any hopes of redshirting him. The Cornhuskers also have converted linebacker Latravis Washington and freshmen Ron Kellogg Jr. and Taylor Martinez in camp.
08/255:39pmMatt HoltLB Out For Year ShoulderSophomore LB Matt Holt will miss the 2009 season with an injured shoulder. The reserve's injury might come at a position where the Huskers can afford it. They still have five linebackers with some playing experience coming back for the upcoming season.

Castille carried the ball 106 times as a sophomore, compiling 467 yards and six touchdowns. HC Pelini did not explain the specific rule that Castille violated.
