|
| 09/21 | 9:46pm | Demetrius Goode | RB | Questionable | Knee | Sophomore RB Demetrius Goode hyperextended his knee in the Sept 19 game against North Texas. Head coach Nick Saban says that Goode's injury is "nothing that's really an issue or a problem." The reserve RB (No. 4 on depth chart) is questionable for the Sept 26 game against Arkansas. |
| 09/21 | 9:43pm | Kenny Bell | WR | Questionable | Shin | True freshman WR Kenny Bell has not played all season because of debilitating shin splints that keep him from practicing. He does not participate in any contact drills during practice as of Sept 21. His status for the rest of the season is questionable, making him a likely redshirt candidate. |
| 09/21 | 9:41pm | Roy Upchurch | RB | Probable | Ankle | Senior RB Roy Upchurch suffered a high ankle sprain during his first start in 30 games for the Crimson Tide (Sept 12 vs. FIU). He sat out the Sept 19 game against North Texas but returned to full-speed practice on Sept 21. Upchurch has been upgraded to probable for the Sept 26 game against Arkansas. The reserve RB was starting in place of sophomore RB Mark Ingram, who had been battling the flu the week of the FIU game. Despite Upchurch's return, Terry Grant and true freshman Trent Richardson will continue to take snaps at reserve tailback. |
| 09/21 | 9:52am | Julio Jones | WR | Probable | Knee | Sophomore WR Julio Jones was knocked out of the game against Florida International with a bruised knee and did not play in the Sept 19 game against North Texas. His status for the Sept 26 game against Arkansas is probable. According to head coach Nick Saban, "Julio can probably play in this next game." Jones was a second team All SEC performer in 2008, leading Alabama in receiving yards (924), receptions (58), and TD receptions (4). |
| 09/20 | 10:30am | Jerrell Harris | LB | Doubtful | Eligibility | Sophomore SLB Jerrell Harris did not play in the first three games of the season due to questions surrounding his eligibility. His status for the Sept 26 game against Arkansas is doubtful. Harris received a laptop from Auburn booster Curtis Anderson, the same man who paid for a fishing trip for fellow Alabama sophomores Mark Ingram and Julio Jones. Harris, a reserve SLB (No. 2 on the depth chart), played in 10 games as a true freshman in 2008. |
| 09/15 | 8:11am | Damion Square | DE | Out For Year | Torn ACL | Redshirt freshman DE Damion Square tore his ACL during the Sept 12 game against Florida International and will miss the rest of the 2009 season. "It's really too bad," Saban said. "He got redshirted last year and was promising freshman. We were hopeful that he would give us great depth. But it gives somebody else an opportunity to go out and play." |
| 08/26 | 6:09am | Petey Smith | LB | Out For Year | Grayshirt | True freshman LB Petey Smith will delay his arrival to Alabama until January 2010. The reserve MLB was listed as the No.3 MLB on the depth chart. |
| 08/26 | 6:08am | Alonzo Lawrence | S | Out For Year | Dismissed | Redshirt freshman Alonzo Lawrence was dismissed from the team during the summer session. Lawrence was listed as the No. 3 SS on the depth chart. |
| 08/26 | 6:03am | Charlie Kirschman | LB | Out For Year | Medical scholarship | Junior WLB Charlie Kirschman is being placed on medical scholarship. The reserve WLB is listed as the No.4 WLB on the depth chart. |
| 08/26 | 5:54am | Jennings Hester | LB | Out For Year | Medical scholarship | Sophomore reserve MLB Jennings Hester will receive a medical scholarship. The No.4 MLB's absence leaves Alabama with no depth at the MLB position. |
| 08/26 | 5:52am | Evan Cardwell | C | Out For Year | Medical scholarship | Reserve center Evan Cardwell was placed on medical scholarship. The senior was slated as the No.3 center on the depth chart. Cardwell made seven starts during his Crimson Tide career. |
| 08/26 | 5:44am | Charlie Higgenbotham | LB | Out For Year | Transfer | Junior MLB Charlie Higgenbotham will transfer to South Alabama. The reserve MLB (No.2 on depth chart) recorded four tackles in 2008. Higgenbotham's departure leaves the Crimson Tide without much depth at the MLB position. |
| 08/26 | 5:41am | Chris Jackson | WR | Out For Year | Transfer | Sophomore WR Chris Jackson will transfer to Georgia Tech. The reserve WR moved from DB, where he made six tackles as a true freshman in 2008. As a wide receiver, Jackson was slated to be third-string behind Marquis Maze and Brandon Gibson. |
| 08/17 | 4:37pm | Brandon Fanney | LB | Out For Year | Transfer | Fanney has been granted permission to transfer from UA. The 2008 starter was third on the team with 66 tackles - nine for a loss. With Fanney's departure look for senior Eryk Anders to take over the starting job. | | 08/07 | 6:48pm | Prince Hall | LB | Out For Year | Transfer | Hall will play his senior season at Central Washington. The often-troubled linebacker has been suspended a number of times during his time at Alabama and decided it was time leave the program. |
|
Next game: Tulane at Army on 10/03

| 09/26 | 7:13am | CeDarius Williams | FB | Doubtful | Ankle | Williams did not play on Saturday Sept. 19 against Ball State due to an ankle injury and is doubtful to be ready on Sept. 26 against Iowa State. The starting FB was replaced by slot back Pat Mealy in formations with a fullback. Mealy enters week three with just over 200 yards rushing, tops on the team. |
|
Next game: Florida State at Boston College on 10/03
|
| 09/25 | 8:55am | Dominick LeGrande | LB | Doubtful | Undisclosed | Sophomore LB Dominick LeGrande left practice (Sept 24) with an undisclosed injury and is doubtful for the Sept 26 game against Wake Forest. LeGrande is one of the leaders on the Boston College defense thus far this season due to the injuries to Mike McLaughlin and the cancer battle of All-American Mark Herzlich. Redshirt freshman Nick Clancy will start at SLB for LeGrande against Wake. | | 09/25 | 8:32am | James McCluskey | FB | Out | Achilles | Junior FB James McCluskey battled an Achilles injury for most of fall preseason camp and has missed the first three games of the season. He is expected to miss the Sept 26 game against Wake Forest. In 2008, McCluskey rushed for 84 yards on 23 carries and one touchdown and also caught 19 passes for 123 yards. Senior DT Brendan Deska could see action at FB during McCluskey's absence. |
| 09/25 | 8:31am | Ifeanyi Momah | WR | Out | Knee | Junior WR Ifeanyi Momah has been out indefinitely with a sprained right medial collateral ligament injury (will miss the Wake Forest game on Sept 26). It has been reported that Momah is healthy enough to play, but the Boston College coaching staff wants to redshirt him (which is why he isn't expected to play the rest of the season barring injury to other WRs). The reserve receiver caught 11 passes in 2008 for 149 yards and 3 touchdowns (second on the team last season). |
| 09/24 | 8:17am | Damik Scafe | DT | Probable | Shoulder | Junior DT Damik Scafe is listed as having played against Clemson on Sept 19. Despite shoulder and neck injuries, the starter at DT is probable for the Sept 26 game against Wake Forest. Scafe is supposed to help fill the void left by BJ Raji and Ron Brace, both of whom moved on to the NFL. In 2008, he recorded 13 tackles as a reserve. |
| 09/23 | 8:45am | Will Thompson | LB | Doubtful | Shoulder | Sophomore LB Will Thompson missed the first three games of the season with a shoulder injury and is questionable for the Sept 26 game against Wake Forest. | 09/23 | 8:42am | Mike McLaughlin | LB | Probable | Achilles | Senior LB Mike McLaughlin missed the first three games of the season while recovering from an Achilles injury he sustained during the spring. He is expected to return to practice this week (Sept 21), as the coaches feel that he is healthy enough to contribute. His status for the Sept 26 game against Wake Forest is probable. McLaughlin is expected to provide stability to a linebacker crew that lost its leader, Mark Herzlich, to cancer for the entire 2009 season. In 2008, McLaughlin started all 14 games for Boston College and was second on the team in tackles with 89 (53 solo) and four sacks. |
| 08/10 | 5:33pm | Mark Herzlich | LB | Out For Year | Cancer | Herzlich has been diagnosed with a rare type of bone cancer in his left leg. The ACC Defensive Player of the year is two months into an aggressive chemotherapy plan and will not play in 2009. The cancer gives him a five-percent higher chance of breaking his leg. "If it breaks, the cancer spreads," he said. |
| 08/10 | 5:23pm | Dominique Davis | QB | Out For Year | Academics | Projected starting quarterback Dominique Davis was declared academically ineligible and will transfer out of the BC program. The QB position in BC is a bit chaotic. There are six QB's on the roster, NONE of which have taken an in-game snap from under center in their careers. Billy Flutie has played college ball - at wide receiver, punter and holder - but he will only get a handful of chances for "change-of-pace" snaps. Codi Boek played in every game last year, including four starts - at FullBack. The other four candidates are either true freshmen or redshirt freshmen. |
|
Next game: Central Michigan at Buffalo on 10/03
|
| 09/23 | 10:07pm | Jose Cortes | OL | Out For Year | Shoulder | Cortes will probably miss the remainder of the season. The RS freshman is to undergo shoulder surgery according to HC Gill. Starks is a fifth-year senior and has no eligibility remaining. Starks is the school's all-time leading rusher with 3,140 yards and 34 rushing touchdowns. He has scored the most points (222) of any player in Buffalo's history and ranks fifth in all-purpose yardage with 3,830 yards. In his absence, junior Brandon Thermilus will start. Thermilus rushed 100 times for 454 yards and seven touchdowns as a backup last season. |

He is probable for the Kentucky game. Wright is the No. 1 FS on the depth chart and is a three-year starter. He tied for second on the team in interceptions (4) in 2008. |
| 09/26 | 7:14am | Joe Haden | CB | Probable | Flu | Junior CB Joe Haden did not travel with the team to Lexington because he has the flu according to head coach Urban Meyer. | 09/25 | 3:16pm | Brendan Beal | LB | Out | Sore neck | Redshirt freshman LB Brendan Beal is suffering from a sore neck that forces him to receive limited reps at practice. According to head coach Urban Meyer, Beal had separated himself from the rest of the reserve linebackers and had established himself as the No. 2 MLB behind All-American Brandon Spikes. Beal's injury further depletes the Gators' reserve linebacker corps. Beal did not play against Charleston Southern on Sept 5 or Sept 12 game against Troy. According to the coaching staff, Beal is "likely to miss the next few weeks". |
| 09/24 | 9:29am | Jeffery Demps | RB | Probable | Flu | Sophomore Jeffery Demps is battling the flu according to head coach Urban Meyer. He played with a fever of over 100 degrees against Tennessee (Sept 19) and his status for the Sept 26 game against Kentucky is probable. Demps is the No. 1 RB on the Florida depth chart. In 2008, Demps ran for 605 yards and seven touchdowns. He is expected to play a bigger role in the Gators' backfield this season. Chris Rainey is a likely replacement if he is unable to go again this week. |

| 09/21 | 9:03am | Brandon Spikes | LB | Probable | Achilles | Senior All-American LB Brandon Spikes missed much of the Tennessee game (Sept 19) with Achilles tendinitis, but he is listed as probable for the Sept 26 game against Kentucky by the Florida coaching staff. He did not participate in Sunday (Sept 20) practice and is likely to wear a protective boot this week according to head coach Urban Meyer. Spikes led the Gators in tackles (93) and tackles for loss (six) in 2008. |
| 09/20 | 9:39am | Deonte Thompson | WR | Questionable | Hamstring | Redshirt sophomore Deonte Thompson is battling through a minor hamstring injury and did not play against Tennessee (Sept 19). | 09/09 | 9:06am | Andre Debose | WR | Out For Year | Hamstring | Highly touted freshman WR Andre Debose is out for the season after undergoing surgery to reattach a torn tendon. The Florida Gators coaching staff believes that Debose initially injured the hamstring during the track season of his senior year in high school. Meyer had hoped that Debose could play a "Percy Harvin" role in 2009 despite being a true freshman. |
| 09/05 | 9:04am | Carl Moore | WR | Out | Back | Senior WR Carl Moore has missed practice since having an undisclosed procedure done on his back on Aug 18. Head coach Urban Meyer says this about Moore's injury: "I was worried about that one. I'd give you the term, but I don't know what it is--something about the nerves in his back. It's still going to be a little while until he's ready." Moore will miss the Sept 5 game against Charleston Southern and It is believed that his injury could be season-ending. |
| 09/25 | 12:16pm | Christian Ponder | QB | Probable | Knee | Junior QB Christian Ponder injured his knee against BYU but says he is 99% ready to go against USF. Ponder is a dual-threat QB, so his mobility could be significantly hindered by a knee injury. Ponder rushed for 77 yards and a TD against BYU (195 passing, 2 TDs). |
| 09/25 | 12:13pm | Daniel Gard | FB | Out | Knee | Redshirt junior FB Daniel Gard is ruled out for the USF game. Gard, the No. 1 FB on the depth chart, began spring practice as a back-up FB to Marcus Sims, who transferred. |

Williams is listed as the No. 2 MLB on the Seminoles depth chart. His injury opens the door for more playing time for Rechardo Wright. |
| 09/25 | 9:28am | Aaron Gresham | LB | Out | Knee | Sophomore LB Aaron Gresham did not play BYU, and he is likely out for the Sept 26 game against USF. The No. 3 MLB on the depth chart is suffering from an injured knee. His absence, along with the anticipated absence of No. 2 MLB Vince Williams, leaves the Seminoles thin at MLB. |

| 09/25 | 9:52pm | Kiante Tripp | DE | Questionable | Shoulder | Junior DE Kiante Tripp missed the Arkansas game on Sept 19 with a shoulder stinger that is not healing properly. "He is on the front end of when he could come back, and he looked good [at practice this week], and then it puffed up on him," Richt said. "That's typical. You kind of back them down and get the swelling out and try again." Banks' status for the Sept 26 game against Arizona State is doubtful, as he is unable to change directions in a satisfactory manner. In Banks' absence, freshman Bacarri Rambo continues to see significant action. |

| 09/07 | 8:30am | Trinton Sturdivant | T | Out For Year | Knee | Mark Richt announced on Sept 6 that redshirt sophomore Trinton Sturdivant would miss the entire 2009 season with a torn ACL in his left knee. The starting LT tore three ligaments (including the ACL) in the same knee in 2008. Richt expects Sturdivant to recover fully in time for the 2010 season. | 09/24 | 12:12pm | Richard Watson | RB | Probable | Multiple | Redshirt freshman B-back Richard Watson is probable for the Sept 26 game against North Carolina after missing the Clemson (Sept 10) and Miami (Sept 17) games with hamstring and ankle injuries. |
| 09/26 | 7:26am | Jake Sharp | RB | Questionable | Calf | Sharp saw extremely limited duty in week three due to a calf injury apparently suffered prior to the game. According to HC Mike Mangino, Sharp lacked explosiveness during pre-game warmups and while he did start the game and take five carries, it was true freshman Toben Opurum who did the majority of the running. Kansas has already allowed Sharp's return to practice, signalling the injury isn't serious, but he's still considered a game time decision on Sept. 26 against Southern Miss. Sharp is among the statistical rushing leaders in the Big 12, having rolled up an average of over 110 yards/game through the first two weeks while scoring a league best five TDs. |
| 09/26 | 7:26am | Arist Wright | LB | Probable | Unknown | Starting LB Wright was limited in week three due to an undisclosed injury, leading to plenty of playing time for true freshman backup Huldon Tharp. | 09/26 | 7:26am | Chris Harris | CB | Questionable | Leg | Harris limped off the field in the fourth quarter of Kansas' week three match-up and did not return.
